Jayson began his legal career in 2020 after graduating from the University of Arkansas School of Law with his J.D. He started as a public defender in Sedgwick County, Kansas (Wichita), where he spent 2.5 years defending clients facing criminal charges. Following his time in Kansas, Jayson moved back to Arkansas and served as a public defender in Benton County for 2 more years before joining Rise Criminal Defense (formerly Renauro Law).
Throughout his career as a public defender, Jayson has handled hundreds of criminal cases across all types of charges, from misdemeanors to serious felonies. His extensive courtroom experience includes bench trials, jury trials, and countless pretrial hearings and motions. He has represented clients facing charges ranging from drug offenses and property crimes to violent felonies and white-collar crimes.
The experience that shaped Jayson's approach to criminal defense was his 4.5 years working as a public defender, where he learned firsthand how the criminal justice system can impact people from all walks of life. Growing up in a blue-collar family in Tuttle, Oklahoma - with a father who worked as a plumber and a mother who was a teacher - Jayson understands the challenges that working families face when navigating the legal system. This background, combined with his philosophy degree from the University of Oklahoma, gives him a unique perspective on justice and the importance of defending individual rights against government prosecution.
Jayson's passion for criminal defense stems from his belief in second chances and his conviction that every person deserves quality legal representation, regardless of their circumstances. He chose to join Rise Criminal Defense because of the firm's reputation for truly caring about clients as individuals, not just case numbers. Jayson is committed to providing the same level of dedicated representation and personal attention that has made Rise Criminal Defense stand out in the legal community.
What Jayson enjoys most about his practice is litigating in the courtroom - it's his "bread and butter." He fights tirelessly for each client, using his years of public defender experience to navigate complex legal challenges and work toward the best possible outcomes. Jayson understands that facing criminal charges can be one of the most stressful experiences in a person's life, and he is dedicated to being the advocate his clients need during these difficult times.
